Read Right To Left - To Love-Ru
To Love-Ru is, if nothing else, comfortable with what it is. It is a compendium of many girls of various body types ranging from petite to buxom in various states of undress, and it goes to great lengths to ensure that they end up in various states of undress as many times as possible. I am sure that the only reason there are certain fetishes that have not been catered to yet in either To Love-Ru or its sequel series, To Love-Ru Darkness, is that Hasemi Saki and Yabuki Kentaro simply are not aware of them yet.

Or, if you can't get a pin up calendar, get a doujin online, which is what To-LOVE-Ru (pronounced more preferably to me as Toraburu, but either way works) seems to amount to.
ReplyDeleteI liked how it developed relationships even if it also dropped off the whole "Lala's suitors are going to try to stop you and kill you" plotline with regards to the king accepting Rito.
And the romance triangle was replaced quickly with the harem idea in Darkness.
It surprised me when it ended abruptly, but I didn't even know it had a new series until at least 10 chapters in, in which time I had to catch up.
I have no problems reading porn, and I enjoy harem comedies as much as the next guy-- but the prospect of being caught reading To-LOVE-Ru frightened me. I'm sorry, but I'm glad it ended. Between soft-core porn and explicit porn, I'll take the latter any time. I won't keep my dignity either way, but at least with Darkness I can feel more honest about my tastes.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sorry, but if we're talking about harem series that managed to cheat the system, Negima holds the rights for the most glorious example of bait and switch of the genre. It started as a Love Hina clone and ended with the mother of all anticlimaxes, but the middle part was so... so badass. Only those brave souls who trudged through those 60 chapters of stupid that it took Akamatsu to fool his editor will be awarded with heaven. Beautiful.
I really don't know why I give this series the time of day, since it is pretty bland. I don't like that Momo is now front and center, although Yami doesn't bother me too much. With Lala and Haruna reduced to side characters, the initial plot has been forgotten beyond the occasional mention of Rito and Lala's relationship. I'm also not fond of the character development because it either moves at a glacial pace or is forgotten by the end of the chapter, particularly with the tsundere characters. I do like the ongoing plot regarding Nemesis, but I wish that Nemesis herself would be involved more often.
